Hey Beloved Dems,
As many of you have your eyes glued to the TVs to find out the final results of the Pennsylvania primary, I thought I would remind you about our own upcoming elections.
The elections will take place at 6:00, on Thursday 4/24, in Salomon 003. Whether or not you run for any position, please show up to make your voice heard. Just to remind anyone interested, the open positions are President, Elections and Advocacy Chair, Civic Involvement Chair, and Secretary. Hope to see you all there!
Also, please bring yourselves and your friends to our upcoming lecture by Congresswoman Diana DeGette (D-Co). You can see the blog entry below for more information, but it promises to be a fantastic event. E-mail jeremy_feigenbaum@brown.edu if your group would like to cosponsor our event or if you would like to simply help out.
We will let you know the results of our board elections as soon as it happens.
Stay Tuned,
The Brown Dems Board

Going Out with Style
To the Wonderful Brown Democrats,
As most of you (aka, all of you) have realized, we have just one month left of school before going home for the summer. But before you all get to "enjoy" finals period, we have some really exciting events planned over the next week and a half.
First, I wanted to let you know that the Brown Democrats Pizza and West Wing Party we had for the propsective students at ADOCH (and a bunch of dems who showed up for the free food) was a huge success. It was great to see so many freshmen interested in being involved in our club. We cannot wait to see a huge outpouring of new members at the beginning of next semester.
Anyway, TOMMOROW NIGHT IS RELAY FOR LIFE. As our prez just said at the meeting, "Relay for life is one of the coolest things thats happens at Brown." Join the Brown Democrats in the fight against cancer at the main green friday night (from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. because cancer never sleeps). There will be movies, food, and entertainment, and you can help out a great cause. We definitely hope that you will join our team. E-mail gabriel_kussin@brown.edu for more information and to help raise some money (trust me, your parents will definitely give some money for the cause).
This coming THURSDAY, APRIL 24, AT 5:30 WILL BE OUR ELECTIONS. The positions of President, Civic Involvement Chair, and Secretary will all be open for election (although others might open if the officers run for new positions). Please come and feel free to run for a position (if you have any questions write to jeremy_feigenbaum@brown.edu). Even if you don't run, we would love for you to come and vote anyway.
Finally, a week from Monday, on APRIL 28, CONGRESSWOMAN DIANA DEGETTE (D-CO) WILL BE COMING TO SPEAK at Brown in Hunter Lab--Carmichael Auditorium. The lecture will be discussing Sex, Science, and Stem Cells: The Right Wing Assault on Reason. Tell your democratic friends, tell your friends who love science, tell everyone you know ... it is going to be a great event. If you are interested in tableslipping or ushering, email jeremy_feigenbaum@brown.edu.
Looking forward to seeing you all at these many, interesting events,
The Board

Our Upcoming Plans (no, not an april fools)
Hey Faithful Dems,
So now that Spring Break is past, and finals are creeping up (sorry, but it's true), we have one month to really have some fun and do some great events. Here's a roundup of what is to come.
April is the month for our Spring semester lectures! We are waiting to confirm everything, but it involves great speakers, congress, and a lot of fun...
Anyway, some things that I can tell you more about:
April 3 2008: This is our first meeting back, and you should definitely come! We will talk about raising money for Relay for Life, a really worthwhile cause. We will tell you more about our lectures. And we will start talking about ELECTIONS. We hope that you guys will all consider running for positions - as we can tell you, it is both fun and rewarding to be on Dems board.
April 10 2008: No meeting (you wouldn't come, it is almost spring weekend!)
Those are the big things for now, but more to come, I promise...
